He also enjoys playing basketball with friends and has a history of playing in different leagues from all different levels. Influences

Sci-Fi

From a young age, Mark has always been fascinated with the idea of science fiction from different kinds such as futuristic worlds and deep space exploration to viral outbreaks and hard science fiction. Some of his favourite movies as a child includes Flight of the Navigator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, The War of the Worlds and the Godzilla franchise (Japanese version). Mark also enjoyed watching The X files every week even though it would sometimes give him nightmares. Even some of his favourite video games features science fiction such as Metal Gear Solid and Fallout 3. His fascination to science has meant that he has watched so many sci-fi movies and TV shows as well as playing an uncountable amount of video games featuring sci-fi elements throughout his life. To top it all up, Mark also has a number of sci-fi books such as The War of the Worlds by H.G Wells and The Martian by Andy Weir. With such an incredible collection of experiences from different media formats, it is easy to understand why Mark's main focus on his stories is science fiction.

Horror

As Mark was approaching his teenage years, he began to enjoy horror movies and video games more. He regards Halloween and Alien to be his favourite horror movies and Silent Hill 2 to be his favourite horror video game. Much like his appreciation to sci-fi, Mark likes various types of horrors such as slashers, supernatural and psychological. Whilst watching horror movies or playing horror games, Mark loves to take ideas and incorporate them into his own story ideas.

Fantasy

Despite being quite picky when it comes to fantasy, Mark does love certain aspects of this genre. In particular, he has always appreciated Medieval or Viking style stories such as The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. One of Mark's favourite games is ironically The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim even though he will never opt to use magic in the game. Mark has admitted the possibility of writing a fantasy in the future.

Mystery

As he become older, Mark had suddenly begun to enjoy stories filled with mystery. He started to read Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code after enjoying the movie a few weeks prior. This would lead to Mark buying all of Dan Brown's books and being fascinated with Robert Langdon's character. Mark had also brought a book (Crucifix Killer) by Chris Carter because he thought it was the same author who wrote the story for The X Files (also Chris Carter). Realising that it was a different Chris Carter who was from Brazil and not the U.S, Mark decided to read the book anyway to see if he would enjoy it. Before he knew it, Mark had brought all of Chris Carter's books and eBooks. Mark loves the idea of keeping his readers guessing while reading his books to create engagement and excitement. He also loves how this can used to create twists in stories.
